To Splurge or Not to Splurge? Everyone knows that weddings can be expensive. Set your budget in advance and decide what items you are going to spend more on and what items you can save on. Do you really need the orchids flown in from Hawaii? Or would you rather spend that part of the budget on a rockin’ band?

Money Saving Tip – Get a credit card with great benefits for frequent flier miles and use this for all the wedding expenses. Look for cards that offer a big mileage bonus just for signing up. Use this credit card for all the wedding expenses, even if you have the cash available. This will help you build miles, and you can use the cash savings to pay the credit card bill. Using this tip could get you free airline tickets for your honeymoon!

Remember the Boy Scouts motto to “always be prepared”? Well that holds true for your wedding day. By creating a Wedding Day Emergency Kit you’ll be sure to be prepared for the last minute needs. Here are some suggested kit contents: brush, deodorant, dental floss, emery board, hair spray, mints, gum, mouthwash, small mirror, bobby pins, tissues, lint roller, sewing kit, small scissors, spot remover, static-cling spray, antacid, drinking straws (so you don’t ruin your lipstick), aspirin, pen, safety pins, clear nail polish, cotton balls, band-aids, lotion, tampons, toothbrush and toothpaste.

Revenge of the Bridesmaids. Your bridesmaids are so thrilled to be involved in your special day, and they really like the dresses you’ve chosen for them. Keep them this happy by not asking them to look identical to each other. Instead of telling them how to wear their hair and what shoes and jewelry to wear, give them general guidelines. Talk with your soon-to-be spouse and find out what you two envisioned for your special day and then work on creating it. The classic interpretation of a wedding may not suite your style or it may be exactly what you’re looking for. Either way, remember it’s your wedding and should reflect who you are.
